The Wall Street Journal reported today that more than half of the top advisors for the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles team are female!
While women make up nearly half of all NFL fans, at the team level, women serving as VPs or in higher executive positions are represented by only 18%. It seems Eagles owner Jeff Lurie didn’t set out to focus on gender diversity, more so he sought something else: diversity of thought. And that resulted in women winning the jobs.
The key strategy was going out of the industry – many of these women have never worked in sports before. Interesting also is that the team works with its politically-outspoken players on their social justice causes. How refreshing!
