Last week I was fortunate to represent Cornerstone at one of those Maine summer events that makes you want to just pinch yourself… a lovely farm dinner at Bumbleroot Farm, hosted by the Maine Farmland Trust (MFT).
Cornerstone is a supporter of MFT’s work in preserving local farms and supporting farmers, and I very much enjoyed meeting some of their staff and experiencing firsthand the sights and smells and tastes of the fruits of Bumbleroot, one of their “Forever Farms”. Allagash paired beers with the farm-sourced courses served up by Fire&Co, and we were all seated out behind a gorgeous old barn, alongside the fields with rows of flowers, looking out at the vista that MFT helped secure. Keeping such properties as working farms, and ensuring Maine continues to have local food and beautiful lands are causes near and dear to our hearts, and we’re pleased MFT is part of our giving strategy here at Cornerstone.
For more info on MFT and how they work to bridge the gap financially to ensure inheritors of farmland can connect with new budding farming families to preserve a farm’s spirit and benefit Maine as a whole, check out their website: https://www.mainefarmlandtrust.org/
