Don’t we all? Who wants to keep track of every penny they spend! But in a divorce it is very important to understand your level of spending. You can’t know what you need, or whether what is being proposed is going to enable you to maintain your lifestyle, if you don’t know what you spend.
In this case, budgeting is a one-time exercise: look back 12 months and write down what you have spent, and then consider how each expense might change once you are divorced.
