On Wednesday, June 6th, the Newington and Portland Cornerstone teams joined forces at the YMCA of Southern Maine in Biddeford for the United Way of York County’s 23rd Annual Day of Caring.
The main purpose of this year’s Day of Caring was to help the Biddeford YMCA prepare for Camp Sokokis, its summer camp, by assisting with various site renovations. Camp Sokokis is a day camp for ages 5-12 that starts next Monday.
Cornerstone headed up the front garden team tackling weeding, mulching and pruning of various flowers and shrubbery. Other local organizations worked on various painting, and carpentry projects -- all to prepare Camp Sokokis to host a summer of fun for the children of Northern York County.
