On Thursday, June 21st, Mackenzie attended a full-day immersive workshop for women interested in early-stage investing. 37 women attended this event, which was hosted by The Women's Business Center at CEI, in collaboration with fellow organizers of Maine Women for Women (W4W) and the Northern New England Women's Investor Network (NNEWIN).
The training had a learn-by-doing format and included a pitch contest, simulation of the due diligence process and cash prizes totaling $10,000 for three women entrepreneurs.
Maine W4W and NNEWIN work to empower potential female angel investors by giving them the skills, resources and confidence they need to understand and consider angel investing. An angel investor is otherwise known as an affluent individual who provide capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity.
