Jill and Susan attended the annual Shareholders Service Group (SSG) conference in early May in San Diego, California. (SSG is the custodian for many Cornerstone client accounts.) The conference focused on practice management and its importance to independent registered investment advisors. Susan sat on a panel facilitated by a reporter for Investment Advisor Magazine and shared experiences – lessons and caveats – of running her business with Jill over the last nine years. Susan highly recommended documenting procedures and processes employed in one’s business and not waiting too long to hire an assistant. “An important skill to develop,“ she said, “is active listening.”
