Celebrating Cornerstone's 20th Anniversary!
March is an important month for Cornerstone, especially this year, as March 2024 marks Cornerstone’s 20th year in business! In March 2004, founders Jill Boynton and Susan Veligor opened Cornerstone’s doors. To celebrate this historic milestone, we thought we would revisit some of Cornerstone’s notable moments throughout the years:
March 2004: Cornerstone opened its doors as a women-owned business!
June 2013: Susan & Jill were interviewed for Financial Advisor Magazine
February 2014: Cornerstone’s website earns national award for design & development
October 2019: Cornerstone becomes a Certified B Corporation™
July 2021: Cornerstone named a Best for the World Company for the ‘Workers’ category
July 2022: Founders, Susan & Jill completed their succession plan and transitioned ownership of the company to Mackenzie & Christina
March 2024: Cornerstone celebrates 20 years of serving our clients!
Mackenzie Accepted to Leadership Portland
Cornerstone's principal, Mackenzie Parsons, is one of 24 local professionals who has been selected to participate in the 2024 Leadership Portland program. The Leadership program is not new to Cornerstone; Christina was a graduate of Leadership Seacoast program in 2020.
Leadership Portland is a comprehensive, six-month program that convenes a cohort of curious, engaged leaders and educates them on the complexities of the community’s pressing issues to inspire participants to tap their civic passion and make a difference in the future of our city.
When Mackenzie was asked why she choose to apply she said: “I wanted to go through the process to learn more about Portland, its inner workings and the current issues impacting our city. I hope to become a more informed resident and graduate from the program with actionable ways to make Portland a better city for all.”

2024 tax deadline is April 15th
The Secure Act 2.0 was passed by Congress at the end of 2022; below are changes that became effective in 2024:
Student loan payment matching –employers may make matching contributions to a retirement plan when employees make qualified student loan payments for defined contribution plans starting after 12/31/23.
529 Plans to Roth IRA Rollovers – beneficiaries of 529 savings plans can rollover a portion of plan funds to a Roth IRA (stipulations apply.)
